As head of advanced HMI in Visteon’s Chief Technology Office (CTO), Axel Torschmied is responsible for HMI strategy and technology roadmap development. Prior to this advanced HMI role, he managed business development activities for on Visteon’s autonomous driving platform.
Torschmied has more than 17 years of automotive experience. He previously worked on advanced HMI concepts and led Visteon’s immersive audio technology development to improve driver’s situational awareness and to enable new ways of interaction between the occupants and the vehicle. In addition, he also led Visteon’s research activities on dynamic distributed cooperative human-machine systems and designed common architectures for cooperative systems jointly with cross-domain research and industry partners. In the area of audio and infotainment, he led the product engineering for active noise cancelation and engine sound enhancement; and worked in product development for digital radio and rear seat entertainment systems.
Starting his automotive career at Motorola, Torschmied has held various positions in development and the implementation of applications for automotive electronics.
Torschmied is a graduate in sensor systems technology from the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences.
