Andrea Upmann studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen and worked for 14 years in overall vehicle development at Ford-Werke GmbH before her appointment. At RWTH Aachen she is now the Vice Dean for Studies and Teaching in the Aerospace & Automotive Engineering Department. Andrea is also an EU ADAS Core Engineer at Ford-Werke GmbH, working on the In-Cabin Sensing Project with a focus on driver-facing cameras. With her extensive background in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), she is dedicated to advancing the development of innovative solutions to improve safety, comfort, and user experience in the future of autonomous driving and vehicle systems.
Her motto is to put people at the centre of everything – both in teaching and in the design of a vehicle. Andrea lives in Cologne with her husband and four-year-old son. In her free time, she likes to do things with family and friends. She enjoys traveling, hiking, jogging and spinning.
