Mario Hoffmann has over 20 years of experience in Cyber Security, including 15+ years in leading positions. Since February 2023 he has been working as Group Leader Automotive Cyber Resilience at ARRK Engineering GmbH in Munich, which comprises functional safety as well as automotive security and privacy. Previously, he served as Head of Automotive Security & Privacy at Sono Motors and at Continental AG. Until 2016 he was Department Head at Fraunhofer Institute for Applied and Integrated Security (AISEC) and Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology (SIT). Hoffmann received his diploma in computer science from Darmstadt University of Technology, Darmstadt, Germany, in 1998, and completed his thesis at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. In December 2013, he was awarded the "Privacy by Design Ambassador" by the Information & Privacy Commissioner Ontario. Hoffmann chaired the Working Group "Security & Trust" of the Wireless World Research Forum (WWRF) from 2005 to 2012 and has been an active member of the Kantara Initiative since 2009, hosting the yearly conference in 2012. He is also a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), ACM, Germany's Gesellschaft für Informatik, Chaos Computer Club, and Digitalcourage.
